Aditi Rao, PhD, RN

Aditi is the Director of Quality at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). She began her career at HUP as a Clinical Nurse in Medicine. She then spent several years working at one of the country’s largest long-term care companies as a Director of Education and Assistant Director of Nursing before returning to HUP as a Nursing Professional Development Specialist in 2011. Subsequently, she has held numerous leadership roles within HUP’s Department of Nursing, serving as a Nurse Scientist, the Magnet Program Director, and the Director of Nursing Practice. In each of these roles, she provided strategic leadership at the departmental level-- contributing to the creation of the nursing strategic plan, achieving Magnet 3.0 re-accreditation, and driving significant improvements in patient outcomes, such as infections, falls, and pressure injuries.
Aditi holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Masters in Health Leadership, and PhD in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She holds an Adjunct Faculty position at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing where she serves as the Course Director for Leadership Development in Healthcare. She has published numerous peer-reviewed papers focused on the development of front line leaders, care of older adults, and hospital outcomes improvement.
